Air Tractor
An Air Tractor clears trees and power lines with inches to spare.
Dear Friend,

In our May newsletter we shared a video clip captioned "In GPS We Trust," showing what happens when a tractor and planter roll over an iPhone.  GPS precision guidance is even more crucial when controlling an Air Tractor performing 130 MPH low passes across a field bordered by trees and power lines.  Thanks, aerial application pilots, for your skill and stamina this busy season!

Now, have you considered the "precision decisions" you make every day at the financial level of your business?  Are they being guided by reconciled real-time data or "on the fly" assumptions?

That's one of the topics we'll explore at the upcoming FBS/MASA Ag Software Success Summit.

Also in this month's FarmSmart newsletter:

  • Farm Journal to share actionable insights from farm data research at FBS/MASA Ag Software Success Summit.
  • Ag Software Success Summit details and deadlines.
  • Video explanation of the FBS Select Company screen.

The lack of a robust, integrated data ecosystem that starts on the farm presents a major challenge for efforts to increase supply chain transparency, sustainability and resiliency. Not to mention, the threat this lack of integrated data poses to the sustainability and resiliency of farm operations themselves.

The Sustainability Consortium and Trust In Food, a Farm Journal initiative, have collaborated to undertake an annual survey of U.S. row crop farmers to identify emerging trends around digital agriculture and learn more about farmer perspectives on data collection and sharing.

Lead researchers Drew Slattery and Teresa Garcia-Moore will share the trends and insights gleaned from this very current and comprehensive survey at the opening general session of the 2021 Ag Software Success Summit on Wednesday, September 8th in East Moline, Illinois.  Their key findings include:

  • Trends in data collection, management and use
  • Data collection/sharing software platforms
  • Trust and beliefs
  • Actionable insights

Summit participants will also have the opportunity to interactively compare their and their peers' practices and strategies with the rest of the ag supply chain.

The remainder of the Summit will be building off these findings with these sessions:

  • Turning a technology problem into a business solution
  • Production cost benchmarks
  • Farm Financial Standards update
  • Best practices and differentiating strategies
  • Where do you want to go?
  • Breakout training sessions
