Elon to the rescue!

SpaceX Falcon 9 launches 53 Starlink satellites on February 2nd.

Dear Friend,

Whether you're a fan of Elon Musk or not, you've got to recognize the benefit from two of his companies for American farms (not to mention Ukraine).  No, we're not talking about Tesla and Twitter, rather the low-orbit Starlink internet satellites being launched by the amazing, reusable Falcon 9 rockets.  FBS/MASA and virtually all of modern agriculture are waiting for a fast, reliable, and economical internet source that reaches rural customers 24x7.  Starlink appears to setting the standard and overcoming the limitations and high costs of other internet sources (with the exception of fiber).  The downside?  If you live east of the Missouri River it looks like you'll be on a wait list.

If you're already on Starlink (or a 5g alternative), please share your experiences with our readers.

Remembering Ev ChambersEv Chambers 1

We've met many brilliant and visionary people along the way.  It's been a privilege to partner with one of the best:  Everett Chambers, PhD., who died February 21st.  FarmSmart readers may recognize Ev as co-founder of AgCompass and partner in the Mutual Agricultural Software Alliance, but his service to agriculture and his country go back much further.  Read his obituary here.

Our sympathies go out to Joanne, Nick, Tony, and the rest of the family.

Q&A:  A/P Report Heading Explanation

Q. Why does the A/P Report "Invoices With Payments (Option 7) show interest paid when we didn't pay any interest or record interest for that vendor in FBS?

Int Paid

A. The column Int. Paid is not interest paid, it is Internal paid, which shows you what amount has been applied as payment towards the invoice.  Conversely, Int. Due displays the internal amount due for that invoice (less partial payments).
