Leading Software Firms Ally To
Create First GIS-Accounting Link
ALEDO, ILL.
SST Development Group and FBS Systems announce
release of the first software designed for crop producers that links accounting
capabilities to a geographic information system (GIS).
Called MaCH 1.0, the new financial interface gives producers and advisors the
unique opportunity of evaluating the economic return of precision-farming practices. It is
also an excellent tool for pinpointing exact locations of identity preserved (IP) grain,
from purchase and planting through storage and delivery.
The challenge in today's precision farming is not the lack of data, but rather
transforming a growing mountain of data into timely, rational decisions, according to Norm
Brown, president of FBS, developer of the interface.
"SSToolbox has earned a
reputation as the most powerful GIS in agriculture through its ability to combine and
analyze multiple years and sources of site-specific data," says Brown. "Plugging
that analytical power into the FBS financial management information system makes precision
farming achieve its true potential."
SST president David Waits says his
company and FBS share a similar missionto make farmers more money by providing them
software tools for gaining better insights into their operations. "We're really
pleased that FBS and SST are working together to produce a seamless integration for our
respective products," he says.
MaCH 1.0 stands for No. 1 in
mapping, accounting, commitment, hustle, explains Brown. "The name tells the
storyproduct superiority forged through unswerving dedication and backed by
aggressive customer service," he says.
SST's comprehensive GIS provides
automated data management, analysis functions and integrated import/export conversions for
GPS receivers, controllers, yield monitors and soil laboratories. It is used by crop
consultants, farm managers, crop input suppliers, agronomists and researchers in 33
states, 8 Canadian provinces and 11 countries.
FBS Systems, pioneer and leader in
integrated software since 1982, supplies accounting and crop management modules to
producers and farm managers collectively responsible for over seven million crop acres.
Along with the interface,
the complete MaCH 1.0 package consists of either SSToolbox
or SSToolkit from SST and Crop Audit Plus and TransAction
Plus from FBS. The latter provide crop management and accounting
functions. The modules are priced separately.
