VERSION 7.5 MENU TREES HELP EXPLORE THE SOFTWARE FOREST

This year, the programming wizards at FBS have done more than deliver the customary cornucopia of software bells and whistles.  Without giving up our hallmark flexibility, we've created an easier way to organize and retrieve your favorite transactions and reports.  It's our new Version 7.5 "menu tree" interface, and it provides new users a visual "trail of bread crumbs" to find their way back to familiar tasks and power users greater flexibility in defining and organizing their computing tasks.  Click here to see some examples of the "New Interface."
Version 7.5 will ship CDs to VIP Service Agreement customers in October, Priority Service Agreement customers in November and Basic Service Agreement customers in December.
Patches for Version 7.4 will remain on the Updates page of the FBS Systems web site through December, 2004.  Please don't try to download Version7.5 patches until you've installed from the 7.5 CD-it will cause a "train wreck."
All Payroll upgrades CDs will be shipped in December.
Click here for more information on new 7.5 features.

11 1/2th HOUR FOR NPPC STANDARDS
Based on the listless response from last month's story on the future of the National Pork Production and Financial Standards, we've concluded that this issue is still not on your "radar screen."  That's a shame.  So far, only one producer has cared enough to voice his opinion (very negative) regarding the value of this massive investment by the pork industry.  If you haven't done so yet, please read the article and e-mail us your thoughts (good or bad) while there's still time.  Here's the link:  September 2003 newsletter.

SOFTWARE Q&A – WITH Q'S FROM YOU, OUR CLIENTS!

Send us your questions/problems–be they short, long, simple or downright frustratin'!–about SeRVware and we'll handle them right "on the air" for the benefit of all.

Q.

How do I save report settings like font size, print orientation and data selection options?
a.
One of the most underutilized features of the FBS programs, the report macro, allows you to record report preferences "on-the-fly."  Report macros, which work the same in TransAction Plus, Crop Audit, Smart Feeder and Smart Breeder.  The newly-released 7.5 version follows the basic process as used by version 7.4, but visually depicts macros as "branches" under each major report selection.
Version. 7.4
1.   Select the report type from the drop-down menu.
2.   At the report setup screen, click on the Macro button and choose New, check Save Changes and name your new report macro (example: "Cash Income Statement"). Click OK.
3.   Fill in the report parameters (date range, center range, preference check boxes, etc.) and run the report.
4.   Drag and drop columns, select columns to print, and customize your printer setup.
5.   When you print the report or exit the report screen all of the customization will be saved.
6.   The next time you want to run the report, select the report type and click on the Macro button.  Choose your macro
7.   To make changes to (example: advance dates to a new month), click the Save Changes button.
Version. 7.5
1.   On the Report Tree menu screen click the Setup Report Macro button.
2.   Click the Add button.  Fill in the description and choose the report type from the pull down menu.
3.   Click the Save button.
4.   Choose your new macro under the selected report type on the menu tree.
5.   When the report setup screen appears, click the Update Macro Report radio button (lower right) and complete the report parameters.
6.   Drag and drop columns, select columns to print, and customize your printer setup.
7.   After print the report and exit the report screen all of the customization will be saved.
8.   The next time you want to run the report, choose the report from the report menu tree.  You can choose to update the macro any time you run the report.  You can also change the report parameters from the Setup Report Macro screen.
