SeRVware Q & A SECTION

CATCH UP AND CHARGE UP AT THE NATIONAL FARM COMPUTER CONFERENCE

Don't miss the best opportunity of the year to catch up on the exciting advances in the farm computing that will make you more productive so you can catch up on your work!  Plus "charge your batteries" with exciting ideas from the sharpest minds in agriculture.  Here are some of the great reasons you don't want to miss the 2006 FBS National Farm Computer Conference, August 23-24, in Moline Illinois:
•  Invigorating new location.  Escape to the "Northwoods" at the beautiful Stoney Creek Inn, Moline, Illinois, on the banks of the Mississippi River and near John Deere attractions.  Enjoy WI-FI equipped meeting rooms and theme suites!  Call the hotel now at 309-743-0101 and ask for the FBS room block while space is still available.

•  Howard Doster wants you to receive a free beta copy of FBS's long-awaited budgeting software.  Bring your computer, participate in hands-on training with the Professor Emeritus Purdue Ag Economist's latest "C+" idea:  "Life-Cycle" budgeting, and take home the software and your data.

•  Do your own dashboard.  Learn how to link real-time data from FBS, PigCHAMP, spreadsheets and web pages to key performance indicators, alerts and charts on the Farm SeRVeyTM executive "dashboard."

•  Keep on top of your changing world.  Discover what's coming down the pike from technology providers, consultants and Farm Financial Standards.  Also learn how to tap more value from your software, hardware and human resource investments.

•  Bring your chronic questions, return with fresh answers and new acquaintances.  There's no excuse to stay home and stew when you can receive personal guidance from FBS experts and enjoy great fellowship and food (including a Mississippi River dinner cruise) with like-minded producers, accountants and consultants from across North America.

Save 50% on early-bird registrations.  We've extended the deadline through Friday, August 4th, so act now!  Click here for the agenda and registration form or call FBS Sales at 800.437.7638 / extension 1. Space is limited so act now!

SOFTWARE Q&A – WITH Q'S FROM YOU, OUR CLIENTS!

Send us your questions/problems–be they short, long, simple or downright frustratin'!–about SeRVware and we'll handle them right "on the air" for the benefit of all.

Q.

I have to change bank accounts every time I input checks and re-check the "Print Check" box.  Is there a way to set default values?
a. Yes, you can set the default bank account, check printing and many other preferences through the Utilities / Set Preferences menu.  You will currently find a list of 80 preferences, including preferences for modules other than TransAction Plus.  The preferences are in alphabetical order by the name of the program module.  As you highlight each line the blue box at the bottom of the screen explains the Valid Values, of the program that uses it, and a more detailed description of the preference.  Simply type in the value you need in the Value column.

To change the default bank account, type the bank account ledger account number in the Value column beside the TA+ Entry Bank Account preference.  Or to default to printing checks, type a Y in the Value column beside the TA+ Print Check preference.

NOTE:  We'll be explaining how to take advantage of Preferences in "Things you never knew your software could do" segment at the FBS User Conference on August 23rd.
