MaCH 1.0 INTERFACE SALES ACCELERATE–DUE IN PART TO NEW SST STRATUS.

A recent jump in sales of the interface module for FBS's MaCH 1.0 system is partially attributable to the release of the new Stratus software from SST Development Group.  MaCH 1.0, a multi-modular system designed specifically for crop producers, links agriculture's premier GIS–SSToolbox–with accounting capabilities.  It gives producers and advisors an accurate means of measuring the economic returns of precision farming.
The addition of SST Stratus, software designed for the handheld Compaq iPAQ, enhances MaCH 1.0's utility through the convenience of in-field data collection.  Linking with the MaCH 1.0 interface via SSToolbox, Stratus facilitates collection of the most common management actions and applications.  These are easily selected from drop-down boxes, which contain listings of hybrids, varieties, chemicals, pests, equipment and more.  Stratus will help producers make more informed management decisions from in-field records and ensure delivery of enhanced maps and recommendations from service providers.
MaCH 1.0 is featured in April's Successful Farming (pg. 12). For information on MaCH 1.0, call us at 800.437.7638 or e-mail sales@fbssystems.com; for Stratus, call SST at 405.377.5334 or visit SST Stratus.

CROP PILOT II MEETS FOR e.CLIPSE TRAINING

Our thanks to these producers and consultants who assembled in Des Moines on April 3 for advanced instruction in the setup and operation of the new e.CLIPSE system for crops: Ron Swanson, Rich Wildman, Matt Lux, Jared Larsen, Ev Chambers, Jim Marzolf and John McNutt.  The managerial accounting/inventory valuation system they are testing will be available to other producers this summer.   e.CLIPSE adds "job costing" by crop/field and automated accrual, cost-basis financial statements to TransAction Plus and Crop Audit Plus.
A special thanks goes out to Paul Havick of the Iowa Soybean Association for hosting the training, to Barbara Fairchild from Farm Journal for covering the meeting and to Dave Christenson from SST Development Group for demonstrating their new Stratus Pocket PC software.

SOMETHING NEW! A SOFTWARE Q&A SECTION–WITH QUESTIONS FROM CLIENTS

As recently announced, we've added a feature we believe you'll find helpful.  You submit your most critical questions regarding SERVware, and we answer them right "on the air" for the benefit of all.  This month's question comes from Gary Holt, Rio, Ill., pork producer (practically a neighbor!):

Q.

What patches do I need from the Web page? (To me, the dates are confusing.)
a.
We keep the updated files on our Web page.  They are organized by the cumulative download and by current month.  The Cumulative Download has all the file changes since that version was released.  Current Month has the files that we have changed for that month.  We organize the files in this manner so that users who stay current with the files can save time by only downloading the current changes.  The "rule of thumb" for the users is if they have not downloaded the files for over a month, they need to get the Cumulative Download, and then stay current by getting Current Month.
- Gary Simpson, National Support Manager

    Congratulations!
Blake and Sally Hollis, Waterloo, Iowa, Randy and Carla Britt, Clifton Hill, Mo., and Bryan and Brenda Jorgensen, Ideal, S. D., are among 25 couples representing the 19th class of American Soybean Assn/DuPont Young Leaders.  They are cited in a Mar., '02, ASA Today article that lauds the program for "tremendous leadership development for young couples and individuals who are willing to roll up their sleeves and make a difference through agriculture."
Comments Blake Hollis, "Our fellow Young Leaders represented a remarkable cross section of the American soybean industry, so this was an excellent chance to network with those who do things a little differently.  In addition, we were given the opportunity to learn more about our individual styles of leadership and some areas for personal growth."

The 2002 Class of ASA/DuPont Young Leaders

    Welcome!
New clients Bert Farm and Livestock Co., Marshalltown, Iowa; Tom Vincent, Perry, Iowa

    In The NEWS!

Phil Borgic, Nokomis, Ill., pork producer, is quoted in a Feb., '02 Prairie Farmer story examining "State livestock regs: friend or foe?" The article concludes that although smaller livestock operations are disappearing fast, Illinois' livestock regulations (Livestock Management Facilities Act) generally garner support.
